The DAP Socialist Youth (DAPSY) National Executive Council at its meeting last night had elected committee member Teo Kok Seong as the new National Organising Secretary, replacing Chang Teck Chee who had earlier resigned. Teo is also the State Assemblyman for Bahau in Negeri Sembilan.

Meanwhile, Assistant National Secretary Tey Kok Kiew was made acting National Secretary until April 2010 as current National Secretary Loh Chee Heng would be taking a six months’ leave starting from this November. Tey is also the State Assemblyman for Bandar Hilir in Melaka.

The DAPSY National Executive Council has also decided to hold a Special Congress in Ipoh on 16th January 2010 to amend the DAPSY Statute to fine tune its provisions in order to bring DAPSY to greater heights.

Besides, the DAPSY National Executive Council also pledged its full support to the Pemuda Pakatan Rakyat National Convention on 18th December 2009 in Shah Alam. We will send a full delegation to the convention and work harder to achieve a more cohesive Pakatan Rakyat coalition.

Some excerpts from the media statement by DAPSY National Publicity Secretary and State Assemblyman for Komtar Ng Wei Aik:

• DAPSY is extremely disappointed with the police investigation against DAPSY National Chairman Anthony Loke Siew Fook and Jelutong MP Jeff Ooi based on the unfounded, malicious accusations that both of them have insulted Islam
• DAPSY wishes to stress that the police investigation is purely politically motivated, and that both Loke and Ooi have never made any ‘seditious’ statements insulting Islam
• The anonymous blog that published the alleged seditious statement does not belong to Loke. The police should be investigating those who are maliciously abusing Loke’s name to make insensitive statements instead of victimising two capable wakil rakyats who have been wrongfully accused.

DAPSY kesal dengan siasatan polis ke atas Y.B. Anthony Loke dan Y.B. Jeff Ooi

Pemuda Sosialis DAP (DAPSY) berasa amat kesal dengan siasatan polis ke atas Y.B. Anthony Loke, Ketua DAPSY dan Y.B. Jeff Ooi, Ahli Parlimen bagi Jelutong atas dakwaan bahawa mereka memburukkan Kesultanan Perak dan menghina Islam.

DAPSY ingin menegas bahawa siasatan polis ke atas kedua-dua wakil rakyat adalah bermotifkan politik, di mana mereka tidak pernah mengeluarkan sebarang kenyataan yang berbau hasutan atau menghina Islam.

Kenyataan yang terkandung dalam blog bukanlah tulisan Y.B. Anthony Loke dan beliau pernah membuat repot polis terhadap kenyataan palsu yang menggunapakai nama beliau tanpa pengetahuan beliau supaya tindakan dapat diambil terhadap penulis sebenarnya.

Pihak polis sepatutnya menjalankan siasatan dan mengambil tindakan terhadap penulis blog yang menggunakan nama Y.B. Anthony Loke untuk menyiarkan artikel tersebut dan bukannya terhadap wakil rakyat sendiri.

Jikalau tindakan tidak ambil terhadap dalang di sebalik artikel tersebut namun diambil terhadap Y.B. Anthony Loke, sikap sebegini akan menjejaskan profesionalisme serta keyakinan rakyat terhadap pasukan polis.

Manakala bagi Y.B. Jeff Ooi, pertelingkahan beliau dengan Mohd Razali bin Abdullah, Ahli Majlis Perbandaran Pulau Pinang adalah merupakan “perkara peribadi” di antara mereka dan beliau tidak berniat langsung untuk memburukkan nama Islam.

Pada masa yang sama, DAPSY juga menggesa pihak polis supaya mengambil tindakan terhadap Utusan Malaysia yang sering menyiarkan rencana-rencana yang berbau perkauman serta menyakitkan hati rakyat jelata, termasuk melancarkan serangan peribadi terhadap Y.B. Anthony Loke dan Y.B. Jeff Ooi.

I’ve just lodged a police report at Dang Wangi Police Station to deny unfounded allegations and lies which was spread by certain blogs and SMS circulation claiming that I have made statements insulting Islam and the Sultan of Perak.

I wish to deny strongly that neither DAPSY nor I have ever issued any statements that insult Islam or the Royalty. Those are lies spread by certain irresponsible parties out to tarnish the image of the DAP and tried to paint DAP as anti-Islam and anti-Malays.

My police report as below:

LAMPIRAN LAPORAN POLIS

Saya datang ke Balai Polis IPD Dang Wangi pada hari ini 10 Ogos 2009 untuk membuat satu repot polis untuk MENAFIKAN dengan sekeras-kerasnya bahawa saya pernah menulis beberapa artikel yang dikatakan menghina agama Islam dan DYMM Sultan Perak serta Raja Nazrin Shah. Dalam 2 hari ini, beberapa blog dalam internet dan sebaran SMS telah menuduh saya menulis tulisan yang dikatakan menghina Islam dengan kata-kata lucah dan kesat dan yang terbaru menuduh saya menghina Sultan Perak.

Mereka mendakwa saya telah menulis artikel-artikel tersebut dalam sebuah laman blog http://sjsandteam.wordpress.com/. Saya ingin menegaskan bahawa saya tidak tahu-menahu tentang kewujudan blog ini dan tidak tahu siapa pemunya blog tersebut. Saya hanya mengetahui bahawa ada orang yang tidak bertanggungjawab yang telah meletakkan satu kenyataan akhbar saya yang bertajuk “Ridhuan Tee must apologize to Teoh Bneg Hock’s family” ke dalam blog tersebut. Selepas itu, ada pemberi-pemberi komen yang saya tidak tahu siapa telah menulis beberapa ayat yang kesat terhadap Ridhuan Tee dan agamanya. Saya langsung tidak bertanggungjawab terhadap komen-komen tersebut.

Dalam blog yang sama, terdapat satu lagi artikel yang dikatakan saya menghina Sultan Perak dan Raja Nazrin yang didakwa oleh dua blog iaitu marahku.blogspot.com dan kitaanakmelayu.blogspot.com. Saya menafikan sekerasnya-kerasnya dakwaan tersebut. Saya TIDAK pernah menulis apa-apa tulisan berkenaan dengan Sultan Perak. Ini adalah satu dakwaan yang palsu dan fitnah terhadap saya.

Saya membuat laporan ini untuk menafikan dakwaan-dakwaan tersebut dan mengharapkan tuduhan yang palsu itu dapat diberhentikan.

It is sickening to see that a person with supposedly strong academic credentials and high religious stature can produce such cruel and heartless remarks over the issue of Teoh Beng Hock’s unborn child.

By twisting a dreadful tragedy with his zealous agenda against “bastard children” in his Utusan Malaysia article, Dr. Mohd Ridhuan, the vice-president of the Malaysian Chinese Muslim Association, has caused immense emotional damage to Teoh’s family.

Whatever superficial sympathy Dr. Mohd Ridhuan has for Teoh’s family is lost when he chooses to harp on the status of the child, whom he labels as an illegitimate child. Dr. Mohd Ridhuan has also compared Teoh’s child to the children of “Malay-Muslim girls who have sex with Muslim or non-Muslim partners with or without consent”, who are born without taking their father’s names.

By comparing, with blatantly racist language, an unborn child of an engaged couple who is painfully separated by the fiance’s mysterious death, to children who are results of unplanned conception, Dr Mohd Ridhuan has shown everyone how low he can go to hurt other human beings with broken logic.

As if that wasn’t enough, Dr. Mohd Ridhuan produced another hurtful article to slam his critics, labelling two Chinese language dailies – China Press and Nanyang Siang Pau – as racist, for highlighting his own racist outbursts. You can’t get more hypocritical than that.

DAPSY condemns in the strongest possible terms, the decision by Dr. Mohd Ridhuan to produce such insensitive, racist, zealous and hypocritical writings and the decision by Utusan Malaysia to publish them. DAPSY calls on Dr. Mohd Ridhuan to immediately apologize to Teoh’s family and to China Press and Nanyang Siang Pau, for all they have done is to reveal and reject his nasty character.

DAPSY fully supports Gerakan Mansuhkan ISA’s (GMI) anti-ISA rally which will be held on this Saturday. DAPSY leaders and members will also participate in the rally to call for the abolishment of the draconian, inhumane, and primitive Internal Security Act.

We also call upon all Malaysian Youths who wish for a more humane and more democratic Malaysia to join us on that day or at least help spread the word.

For those who wish to participate in the rally, please gather at the three designated meeting points – Sogo, Masjid Jamek and Masjid Negara by 2pm. Participants are required to wear black or red during the rally, but are advised not to do so before the rally. Participants are also advised to ignore the pro-ISA demonstrators who may attempt to cause havoc.

Let this people’s rally on August 1 be the start of a new wave of political and social change!

Kami Pemuda PAKATAN RAKYAT yang terdiri daripada Dewan Pemuda PAS (DPP), Angkatan Muda Keadilan (AMK) dan Pergerakan Pemuda Sosialis DAP (DAPSY) hari ini memutuskan penubuhan Majlis Muafakat Pemuda Pakatan Rakyat dengan penggunaan singkatan nama MAMPAT. Mesyuarat MAMPAT yang pertama pada hari ini (Isnin 27hb Julai 2009) di Tingkat 2, Pejabat Pemuda PAS Pusat bersetuju bahawa ahli-ahli mesyuarat MAMPAT terdiri daripada Ketua, Setiausaha dan 3 pimpinan tertinggi Pemuda yang lain daripada setiap parti dan akan mengadakan mesyuarat bulanan secara tetap.

Pemuda PAS, AMK dan DAP percaya penubuhan MAMPAT ini akan menguatkan lagi hubungan kerjasama politik Pakatan Rakyat dan memberikan kekuatan untuk pemuda Pakatan Rakyat merencana gerak kerja bersama pada setiap masa. Penubuhan MAMPAT ini juga akan dapat membantu Pemuda Pakatan Rakyat menyelesaikan sebarang isu berbangkit yang melibatkan hubungan parti-parti Pakatan Rakyat dengan lebih cepat.

Mengenai Himpunan Mansuhkan ISA yang akan berlangsung pada 1 haribulan Ogos ini, MAMPAT membuat penegasan pada hari ini menyokong penuh Himpunan tersebut dan memberikan komitmen kehadiran pimpinan dan seluruh ahli pemuda Pakatan Rakyat ke Himpunan tersebut. MAMPAT percaya himpunan tersebut akan berlangsung secara aman sepertimana yang dirancangkan dan meminta kerjasama pihak polis untuk membantu mengawal keselamatan semua pihak.

DAPSY staunchly condemns the MACC’s vicious treatment of Teoh Beng Hock that may have resulted in his tragic death. We are extremely saddened and infuriated by the circumstances in which Teoh, a dedicated DAPSY member, drew his last breath.

How could a person who was not even a suspect be interrogated overnight, with legal representation being denied? How can a human being be treated in such a way?

There has been extreme negligence on MACC’s part to allow this to happen to one of their supposed witnesses. ‘Releasing’ Teoh after interrogation at 3.45am is absurd enough, but how logical it is for a sane person to not call anyone to pick him up after being released, but to sleep in someone else’s pantry?

We won’t be easily fooled by such nonsense.

We want to know what the MACC officers did to him throughout his interrogation. We want to know they and the police officers did in the crime scene for hours yesterday before confirming Teoh’s death. We want to know if there has indeed been a cover up of the incident.

MACC must bear full responsibility for this inexcusable act of negligence, and must answer to the public on questions surrounding Teoh’s tragic death. Prime Minister Najib must be held accountable for the brutal rape of democracy and human rights of this country.

DAPSY demands a thorough and independent investigation over this tragedy. DAPSY will also launch a special campaign to pressure Najib’s administration to set up a Royal Commission of Inquiry into Teoh Beng Hock’s death.

• DAPSY is disappointed with the raids on two Selangor Pakatan Rakyat legislators’ offices by Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) officers.
• This is not the first time the MACC is practising selective investigation, which casts serious doubts over the credibility and neutrality of the commission.
• Doesn’t it look like MACC is serving its political masters – Barisan Nasional, instead of serving the people of Malaysia?
• MACC should carry out its duties fairly and professionally, unlike how its officers acted in Selangor Exco Member Ean Yong Hian Wah’s office today – secretly breaking into the premise without a search warrant, and after being ‘caught’ by journalists and Ean Yong himself, left his office only to return later to continue searching. The officer in charge even refused to reveal his full name when being asked by Ean Yong.
